MOVE YA BODY: THE BIRTH OF HOUSE, the electrifying documentary from acclaimed filmmaker Elegance Bratton, traces the Black and queer roots of a sound that became a global phenomenon.

At the center of the film is Vince Lawrence, a young Black Chicagoan whose story stretches from the infamous Disco Demolition Night of 1979 to the emergence of house music from Chicago’s underground club scene.

Through archival footage, cinematic recreations, and conversations with the people who were there, MOVE YA BODY celebrates the artists, innovators, and communities who transformed resistance into rhythm, movement, and joy.
