BLACK/GAY/stuck at home: DAKAN

We are excited to screen the film DAKAN, widely considered to be the first West African film to focus on homosexuality.

ABOUT THE FILM

Dakan is a drama directed by Mohamed Camara, celebrated as the first feature film from West Africa to explore queer love.

The story, which means "destiny" in Mandingo, centers on two high school boys in Conakry, Guinea, navigating their intense romantic connection in the face of deep societal taboos and aggressive familial opposition.
